Jacque Karr Retirement Celebration

First Lutheran celebrated God's work through Jacque Karr with a special dinner on July 18.  Special guests included Jacque's family and Pastors Merrill Kluhsman and Ken Nettling.  A highlight of the program was a song written by Mark Schotte reliving Jacque's 25 years at First Lutheran.  An excellent meal was catered by Wayne and Dee Young and served by the Youth.

To all my Brothers and Sisters in Christ at First Lutheran:

It is hard to put into words the feelings of joy and sadness I felt on Sunday.  Joy at the outpouring of love for me and sadness at ending our long relationship.  The worship service was wonderful.  To be exalted before God in that manner is an experience that I never dreamed possible for me.  Thank you for giving me that.

I have so many to thank.  First of all, Wayne and Dee Young for making it all possible.  I know the timing was not good for you and your lives as you prepared for attending the National Youth Gathering, but not a word of complaint.  Instead you prepared and served the MOST delicious of meals and picked out the greatest gifts, a bird bath and wind chimes, that already grace our backyard and patio area. I’ll think of all of you every time I see them (or hear them).  Thanks to the Worship Committee for the moving service and The JOY Singers for the beautiful music; to
Pastors’ Ken Nettling and Merrill Kluhsman for returning to Paola and being a part of the day; to Mark Schotte and Becky for traveling so far and for Mark’s abundant talent and hilarity that made the program so funny and personal; to Jody Brown and Dean Lovig for their kind words; to Mary Ginkel for the beautiful banner; to the Sunday School kids for their special remembrance;  to all the former students that either sent me greetings through the mail or attended on Sunday, your presence was such an honor; for all the individual gifts and cards sent; for my family that got up early and attended the days activities and to Cale and Conner for their part in the worship; to Suzy for preparing the photo display; and last but not least to Pastor Peck and Arlene who thought I deserved something like this.

However, we all know, that the infinite wisdom of our Lord and Savior is what brought us all together and to him I give my deepest thanks, praise and all the glory.  He opened a door that led to happiness and satisfaction on both our parts.  “Praise God from whom all blessing flow.”
